The world is ready for Terra Naomi.
Message for the recording industry: your days are numbered. That's what occurred to me when I stumbled across Terra Naomi on YouTube. 11 days ago she uploaded a video of herself singing her song Say It's Possible, that she wrote "a few days ago". In the days since then it's been viewed 328,069 times and counting. I even ran across a link to it at Salon's Video Dog with the apt title: YouTube killed the MTV star. Imagine the implications for the RIAA if an aspiring artist can create an instant fanbase without multimillion dollar advertising campaings, but through the quality of her work. It's a wooden stake in the heart of the rock-star-making-machine that brought us such prepackaged swill as Jessica and Ashley Simpson. There's hope for this world yet.
