Fight the smears.
This is all kinds of awesome. Barack Obama has a website where he lists popular smears against him and his wife, and points out why they're all lies. There's some debate about the best way to handle smears, but I really like this approach. It's very proactive and it does a good job of utilizing his community of supporters to keep tabs on the smearmails that are floating around the internet.
